4DK NFL · SATURDAY FINAL CHECK · OCTOBER 17, 2026

NOTHING
IS SETTLED.

One game down. Thirteen left. The rosters are changing by the hour, the undefeated teams have targets on their backs, and Week 6 is about to ask real questions of every contender.

THE 4DK BIG PICTURE

THE PRESEASON EXCUSES
ARE OVER.

By October, the league begins to tell the truth. San Francisco and Kansas City are setting the pace, but the difference between being impressive in September and surviving January is depth. Buffalo is trying to build on the momentum of its overtime win against Los Angeles; the Rams must respond to a missed opportunity; and Green Bay and Dallas have a national-stage test that could change how the NFC is discussed. We have seen enough football to ask sharper questions — not enough to hand out a trophy.

Thursday supplied the warning: Denver beat Seattle 17–14 in overtime, but neither offense answered every question. Seattle's 3–3 record and Sam Darnold's late mistakes became the story; Denver's defense kept bailing out an attack that needs to finish more drives. That result belongs in the recap archive now. The rest of Week 6 is still unwritten.

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL · OCT 19 · 5:15 PM PACIFIC

THE NINERS ARE 5–0.
HOW HEALTHY ARE THEY?

WASHINGTON AT SAN FRANCISCO

PERFECT RECORD. IMPERFECT ROSTER.

That 5–0 record is real, and so is the pressure that comes with defending it. San Francisco already knows Brock Purdy can command this offense. Now it needs to prove the supporting cast can function when injuries reduce the margin for error.

Mike Evans was enormous in the win over Seattle, making difficult catches and giving Purdy a true contested-catch target. But he's questionable for Monday after missing practice with rib and Achilles soreness. We cannot project another Evans takeover until his game status clears. If he's limited or out, Christian McCaffrey and the secondary receivers must carry more creation.

Nick Bosa is out and Dre Greenlaw will serve his one-game suspension. That is a serious loss of pass-rush and second-level range. Kyle Juszczyk returning helps the offensive structure, but the defensive question is whether San Francisco can win third downs without those difference-makers.

Washington is shorthanded too: Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Marcus Mariota, Javontae Jean-Baptiste and Charles Omenihu have been ruled out. The missing running back can change Washington's early-down approach, but we will not confuse those absences with a guaranteed San Francisco win. San Francisco's biggest Week 6 test is the one that will follow it into December: can this team keep winning without putting too much of the load on its stars?

SUNDAY AFTERNOON · 1:25 PM PACIFIC

THE CHARGERS ARE HURT.
THE CHIEFS CAN'T GET COMFORTABLE.

Justin Herbert in authentic Chargers action imagery supplied to 4DK

PASS RUSH IS THE STORY.

Kansas City arrives undefeated and faces a Chargers line with little room left for error. Los Angeles is without Joe Alt and Kayode Awosika, plus Tre' Harris, Donte Jackson and Derwin James. Those losses touch protection, separation and coverage — multiple parts of the roster that an opponent can attack at once.

Justin Herbert has already absorbed 17 sacks through five games. He can still get the ball out, throw accurately under pressure and punish single coverage, but the challenge is whether the Chargers have enough protection and designed outlets to make his talent decisive. Kansas City's defensive front has to turn disruption into actual drive-killing plays rather than merely creating a hectic pocket.

KC has absences of its own — Josh Simmons and Rashee Rice are out. Winning the matchup in the trenches cannot be a substitute for designing a sustainable offense. Can Patrick Mahomes keep drives balanced and avoid the kind of long-yardage snaps that invite a comeback?

SUNDAY AFTERNOON · 1:25 PM PACIFIC

ALLEN IS COMING TO VEGAS.
CAN THE RAIDERS MAKE HIM WAIT?

Josh Allen, Buffalo quarterback, from 4DK's existing action image

THE RAIDERS NEED CONTROL.

Buffalo's overtime victory over the Rams showed how quickly Josh Allen can change a game. He does not need every possession to look perfect. Against a defense trying to regain consistency, the danger is permitting the scramble, the second-reaction throw or the late-down escape that turns one missed tackle into seven points.

Las Vegas is 3–2 and not without weapons. Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers practiced fully to close the week, and the Raiders will need their run and short passing game to keep the ball away from Allen. A shootout built entirely around impossible third downs is not the kind of game the Raiders should want.

Buffalo listed DJ Moore, Joshua Palmer, Ed Oliver, Dee Alford and T.J. Sanders as questionable. Vegas ruled out Tonka Hemingway, Carter Runyon and Dont'e Thornton Jr.; Trey Zuhn III is questionable. Those are pregame designations, not predictions about final inactive lists.

SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL · 5:20 PM PACIFIC

LAMBEAU IS A TEST.
NOT AN EXCUSE.

DALLAS @ GREEN BAY

WHO CONTROLS THE EDGES?

Dallas has the offensive talent to stress Green Bay horizontally and vertically. The question is whether Dak Prescott can find clean answers when the Packers disguise coverage and force the ball underneath. Dallas cannot make every close game a referendum on its last two possessions; the offense must be disciplined throughout.

THE FRIDAY INJURY BOARD

GREEN BAY'S DEFENSIVE FRONT IS THIN.

The Packers have ruled out Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Ford, along with Skyy Moore and Benjamin St-Juste. Aaron Banks, Jacob Monk and Brandon Cisse are among those questionable. Dallas ruled out Cobie Durant and Drew Shelton, while CeeDee Lamb had no final injury designation. A depleted defensive line changes how Green Bay can defend the run without sacrificing coverage help.

LONDON / EARLY WINDOW

THE FIRST BALL GOES UP EARLY

The Texans–Jaguars game kicks off at 6:30 a.m. Pacific on Sunday. We expect a divisional chess match, not a forgone conclusion based on records.

We will not describe any player as inactive until the official Sunday list arrives.

4DK REPORTING STANDARD

QUESTIONABLE DOES NOT MEAN OUT.

The tags above describe final team injury designations available before kickoff. They can change when teams publish gameday inactives or activate players. This story reflects the information available Saturday, October 17.

Monday's final inactives will require a fresh check before kickoff.

THE NFL WEEK 6 FIELD GUIDE · ALL TIMES PACIFIC

THIRTEEN GAMES LEFT.
THIRTEEN QUESTIONS.

The Thursday game is final. Everything below is still to be played as of Saturday, October 17. We will keep the previews on record even after Sunday's recap replaces them at the top of the NFL desk.

06:30 AM PT · LONDON • WEMBLEY

HOUSTON @ JACKSONVILLE

C.J. Stroud has to convert strong stretches into a full-game finish. Jacksonville wants to control the AFC South rather than leave Houston a way back into the division. The travel difference matters: Jacksonville has had the longer London stay.

10:00 AM PT · AFC SOUTH

TENNESSEE @ INDIANAPOLIS

Indianapolis has the opportunity to dictate pace on the ground. For Tennessee, the measure is fewer empty possessions and more manageable third downs.

10:00 AM PT · NFC

CAROLINA @ PHILADELPHIA

With Philadelphia adjusting around its offensive availability, Carolina needs to keep the game close enough for defensive pressure and field position to matter.

10:00 AM PT · CROSS-CONFERENCE

PITTSBURGH @ TAMPA BAY

Pittsburgh needs its rush and coverage to work together; Tampa Bay needs to avoid third-and-long and protect its quarterback from unnecessary exposure.

10:00 AM PT · AFC NORTH

BALTIMORE @ CLEVELAND

Baltimore cannot allow a divisional opponent to turn this into a field-position contest. Cleveland needs early stops and a run game that prevents obvious passing situations.

10:00 AM PT · NFC

NEW ORLEANS @ NEW YORK GIANTS

Two teams with a chance to make the season more complicated for an opponent. Watch pass protection, red-zone execution and whether explosive plays survive defensive adjustments.

10:00 AM PT · NFC

CHICAGO @ ATLANTA

The rushing attacks and quarterback decision-making could shape the tempo. The winning defense may be the one that limits explosive gains without conceding easy checkdowns.

10:00 AM PT · AFC EAST

NEW YORK JETS @ NEW ENGLAND

Division games rarely care about aesthetic style. Special teams, run defense and third-down efficiency may matter more than total-yardage headlines.

01:05 PM PT · NFC WEST

ARIZONA @ LOS ANGELES RAMS

The Rams cannot let the Bills loss linger. Arizona can challenge them by stressing the edges and forcing Los Angeles to finish drives, not settle for possession.

01:25 PM PT · AFC WEST

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS @ KANSAS CITY

Herbert is playing behind a damaged offensive line. Kansas City needs its pass rush to translate pressure into disruptive plays, while the Chargers must generate answers before the pocket collapses.

01:25 PM PT · AFC

BUFFALO @ LAS VEGAS

Josh Allen against a Raiders defense trying to regain consistency is an opportunity for Buffalo to control the game. Vegas needs Jeanty and Bowers to keep its offense out of third-and-long.

05:20 PM PT · SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

DALLAS @ GREEN BAY

At Lambeau, Dallas has the perimeter talent to ask hard questions of Green Bay’s secondary. The Packers’ depleted defensive line raises an equally important question about gap integrity and tackling.

05:15 PM MON PT · MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

WASHINGTON @ SAN FRANCISCO

Will San Francisco keep its unbeaten run intact with Bosa out, Greenlaw suspended and Evans questionable? Washington has injury problems of its own, but the 49ers need to set the terms, not simply survive.
