WEEK 1:
SUNDAY MADE A STATEMENT.

Chicago exploded. Lamar and Derrick Henry looked dangerous. Kirk Cousins opened the Vegas era with a win. Cleveland already has a quarterback conversation. And John Harbaugh's Giants closed the night by putting Dallas in an early hole.

Week 1 Sunday gave us 13 games and a lot more than 13 results. Some teams looked exactly like contenders. Others already created uncomfortable questions. This is the weekly 4DK Sunday format: final score, what actually mattered, and what carries into next week.

Chicago's offense looked different.

This was more than an opening win. Chicago played with rhythm, answers and confidence from the first quarter on. Caleb Williams accounted for four touchdowns, D'Andre Swift ran for 124 yards and three scores, and the Bears finished with 552 yards of offense. The biggest difference was how little of it felt improvised. Chicago had counters when Carolina pressured, answers when the box got crowded and enough speed to punish softer coverage.

Bryce Young and Carolina actually moved the ball well enough to win on plenty of Sundays. Young threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns, but scoring 37 means nothing when the defense gives up 59. Carolina's biggest Week 2 priority is obvious: fix the explosives and get off the field.

4DK Verdict
Chicago's expectations just changed. If this offense is even close to sustainable, the Bears belong in the serious NFC conversation.

Baltimore opened like a contender.

Lamar Jackson threw for 324 yards, Derrick Henry powered his way to 144 rushing yards and three touchdowns, and Zay Flowers gave Baltimore another explosive layer with 150 receiving yards. Indianapolis never found a comfortable answer because every adjustment opened something else. Add a body to the box and Lamar attacks space. Sit back and Henry starts leaning on the front.

The only concern leaving Sunday is Flowers' hamstring. Baltimore's spacing changes when his vertical speed is unavailable, so his status matters almost as much as the result.

4DK Verdict
The Ravens looked championship-ready. Lamar is already in the MVP conversation, and Henry still looks built to punish defenses for four quarters.

The most Pittsburgh win possible.

Aaron Rodgers didn't need to turn the clock back ten years. He gave Pittsburgh steady veteran quarterback play, and the defense did the rest. T.J. Watt changed the game with pressure and a pick-six, giving the Steelers exactly the formula they can live on all season: protect the football, survive on offense, then let the defense create the separation.

Bijan Robinson was Atlanta's best player and impacted the game as both a runner and receiver, but the Falcons never found enough consistent production around him.

4DK Verdict
Pittsburgh doesn't need pretty. Functional Rodgers plus an elite defense can keep this team in almost every game.

How long until Cleveland sees Shedeur?

Jacksonville controlled the game from the beginning and Trevor Lawrence looked sharp, throwing four touchdowns while the Jaguars built a 31-0 lead. Cleveland's final box score made Deshaun Watson look more respectable than the game actually felt. When the outcome was still competitive, the Browns offense was lifeless and struggled to create any pressure on Jacksonville's defense.

One game does not automatically mean a quarterback change, but the conversation is here now. Every stalled drive will bring the same question back: if the offense continues to look this flat, what exactly is Cleveland waiting for?

4DK Verdict
Watson is still QB1 today. The Shedeur countdown has started anyway.

Cincinnati won without needing Superman Burrow.

Joe Burrow was efficient, but the Bengals defense created the game. Tampa Bay repeatedly gave Cincinnati short fields with turnovers, including three first-half fumbles, and the Bengals converted those mistakes into control. That's a meaningful development for a team that has spent years needing its offense to carry almost every important Sunday.

Tampa fought back and made the finish competitive, but four turnovers against Cincinnati is too much to survive.

4DK Verdict
If the Bengals can win games where Burrow only needs to be good instead of spectacular, their ceiling gets higher.

Geno's Jets return starts clean.

Geno Smith completed 19 of 24 passes and Breece Hall went over 100 rushing yards, giving New York exactly the kind of low-drama opener it wanted. The Jets didn't need hero ball. They controlled the pace, stayed balanced and let the defense make Cam Ward work.

Tennessee's rookie quarterback showed flashes, but New York's front kept him from ever fully settling in.

4DK Verdict
This is the Jets blueprint: run the football, play defense and let Geno punish teams when they overcommit.

Detroit won. New Orleans still sent a warning.

The Lions led 21-0 and somehow needed overtime. Tyler Shough threw for 410 yards and three touchdowns, Chris Olave went off for 182 receiving yards, and the Saints kept answering until they were one two-point conversion away from stealing the game.

Detroit's positive was Jahmyr Gibbs, who ran for 156 yards and two touchdowns and looked every bit like the centerpiece we expected. The concern is obvious: a contender cannot repeatedly let a three-score lead turn into a coin flip.

4DK Verdict
Gibbs looks like a star. Detroit is 1-0. The secondary still gave Dan Campbell plenty to fix.

Josh Allen reminded everybody why he's No. 1.

Allen threw for 334 yards, accounted for four touchdowns and then delivered the defining drive of the afternoon — a 96-yard game-winning march finished by a 34-yard touchdown to Joshua Palmer with 1:36 left. Houston played well enough to win, but the game came down to one final question: who do you trust when everything is on the line?

Buffalo had Allen. That was the difference. Dalton Kincaid's 130-yard day also matters because it gives Buffalo another dependable middle-of-the-field answer.

4DK Verdict
No reason to move Allen from the top of the MVP Watch. Week 1 strengthened the case.

Arizona controlled a game Los Angeles was supposed to own.

The Cardinals dictated possession, limited explosive opportunities and kept the Chargers out of rhythm for most of the afternoon. Arizona didn't need a parade of highlight plays. It stayed patient, took points when drives stalled and made Justin Herbert operate in uncomfortable down-and-distance situations.

For the Chargers, this is exactly the kind of loss that keeps following talented rosters: too much ability, not enough control. Going 0-for-3 on fourth down and struggling to extend drives made the margin feel even larger than 12 points.

4DK Verdict
Arizona may be better than expected. The Chargers opened with the same frustrating question: why does this much talent still produce games like this?

Minnesota turned disaster into a statement.

Green Bay led 22-10 late in the third quarter. Minnesota scored the next 29 points. Even more impressive, the Vikings did it after Kyler Murray left with a concussion in his debut. Carson Wentz came off the bench, kept the offense functional and helped turn a division loss into a 17-point win.

Jordan Love piled up yardage and Christian Watson made explosive plays, but turnovers, penalties and special-teams mistakes completely changed the game. The immediate Minnesota storyline is Murray's health; the larger one is how much resilience this roster showed.

4DK Verdict
The Vikings proved they can survive chaos. Green Bay proved that yardage doesn't matter when the mistakes start stacking up.

Sorry Fernando — Kirk opened Vegas with a win.

Kirk Cousins wasn't flawless, but three touchdown passes and veteran control were exactly what the Raiders needed. The bigger long-term story may be Ashton Jeanty. He finished with 147 yards from scrimmage and two receiving touchdowns, giving Vegas a true offensive centerpiece in Year 2.

Defensively, the Raiders made Malik Willis play from structure. Miami converted only 2 of 10 third downs, Willis was sacked five times and the offense never developed a consistent rhythm. His final yardage looked more respectable than the overall performance.

4DK Verdict
Cousins gives the Raiders stability. Jeanty gives them star power. A solid defense could keep Fernando Mendoza on the development plan longer than expected.

Philadelphia survived the kind of game good teams have to win.

The Eagles never completely shook Washington, but Jalen Hurts threw three touchdown passes and Philadelphia made the decisive play when the Commanders had a chance to tie. Washington controlled possession and stayed within one score deep into the fourth quarter, making this feel like a real NFC East fight rather than a favorite cruising through Week 1.

Jayden Daniels didn't generate many explosive passing plays, but Washington showed it can go into Philadelphia and make the Eagles uncomfortable.

4DK Verdict
Philly is 1-0. Washington also made it clear that the division isn't going to give anybody easy Sundays.

Jaxson Dart looked ready — and the Harbaugh era starts with a win.

New York closed Sunday with exactly the kind of result John Harbaugh was hired to create: organized, physical and confident in a division game. Jaxson Dart threw three touchdown passes and looked comfortable running the offense instead of simply surviving it. The biggest takeaway wasn't one throw — it was how composed he looked when Dallas tried to force him to prove he could win from the pocket.

Malik Nabers is back, and that matters beyond the stat line. His presence changes coverage, opens space for the rest of the offense and gives Dart a true No. 1 target. Isaiah Likely also immediately became a reliable piece, giving New York more answers in the middle of the field.

Dallas starts 0-1 with familiar frustration. Dak Prescott had a costly first-half interception, the defense struggled to get New York off the field and the Cowboys spent too much of the second half trying to chase the game. This wasn't a fluky loss built entirely on turnovers; the Giants sustained drives and controlled long stretches.

4DK Verdict
Harbaugh is 1-0, Dart looks like a quarterback New York can build around and Nabers changes the entire offense. Dallas is already playing from behind in the NFC East race.
