Denver Broncos
Can They Finish What They Started?
13–4
Denver enters 2026 looking less like an upstart and more like a team that belongs near the top of the AFC. Bo Nix returns from the broken ankle that ended his postseason, and the Broncos gave him another major weapon by adding Jaylen Waddle next to Courtland Sutton.
The offense also has a new voice with Davis Webb taking over play-calling duties, while the defense still has elite-level pieces such as Pat Surtain II and Talanoa Hufanga. The schedule is rough early, but this roster is built to absorb it.
4DK Verdict: Best regular-season record in the AFC.
Kansas City Chiefs
Mahomes Is Still Mahomes.
12–5
The comeback starts with Patrick Mahomes' knee. If he is healthy, Kansas City immediately becomes dangerous again. Eric Bieniemy is back, Kenneth Walker III upgrades the backfield, and Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy give Mahomes enough speed and playmaking to make the offense feel explosive again.
The defense is where the turnover is real. Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson are gone, L'Jarius Sneed returns, and young pieces such as Mansoor Delane, Peter Woods and R Mason Thomas are being asked to grow up fast. Chris Jones remains the veteran centerpiece, but there is more pressure on the next wave now.
4DK Verdict: As long as Mahomes is in the conference, nobody is ever truly out of it.
Los Angeles Chargers
Talent Says Elite. Results Say Not Yet.
9–8
The Chargers have the talent of a top-tier team. Justin Herbert is still there. Derwin James is still there. Jim Harbaugh gives them a high floor, and Mike McDaniel's arrival should make the offense more creative.
But Herbert is 28, entering his seventh season and still looking for his first playoff win. He also has to clean up the tendency to hold the ball too long. Getting Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt back healthy should help, but the bigger issue is the same one that has followed this team for years: inconsistency.
4DK Verdict: Too talented to be bad. Too inconsistent to trust.
Las Vegas Raiders
How Long Until The Kid Gets The Keys?
6–11
Kirk Cousins should open the season as the bridge to No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza. If Vegas starts 0–4, I expect Mendoza to be starting by Week 5. If the Raiders remain competitive, letting him watch a 38-year-old veteran for another month or two makes sense.
The player I am watching just as closely is Ashton Jeanty. If he stays healthy and improves behind a better line and steadier quarterback play, the Raiders could have the beginning of something special with Jeanty, Mendoza and Brock Bowers.
4DK Verdict: Slightly better, still rebuilding.
